Aflac
As an OCAA member, you have access to individually tailored Aflac policies that cover exactly what you find important. Policies are owned by you and fully portable should you change employment. Cash benefits are paid directly you, so you can decide how that money is best used. Policies available include:
Short-Term Disability - An unexpected disability can result in your inability to earn an income. We insure our lives, our homes, our automobiles, but not the one asset that supports our lifestyles.
Studies indicate that a 25-year-old has a 52% probability of incurring a disability lasting more than 90 days before reaching age 65. Can you afford not to be insured? If a temporary disability kept you from earning your full-time income, how would you pay your bills during your recovery?
An Aflac short-term disability policy pays cash benefits while you are disabled. Benefit amounts and coverage periods of time are customizable to meet your needs.
Accident - A disabling injury occurs every 1.5 seconds according to the National Safety Council’s Injury Facts. In a split second it's over, often without warning of any kind. Yet the financial expenses of being injured can hang over a family for months, even years. A disability stops the paycheck, but not the bills.
The Aflac Accident Policy is a way to stay ahead of the medical and out-of-pocket expenses that add up so quickly after an accidental injury - not just for emergency treatment, hospital stays and medical exams, but for other expenses you may face, such as transportation and lodging.
Highlights include cash payments for both the initial emergency treatment and the follow-up treatment, hospitalization, intensive care confinement, specific injury benefits (e.g., fractures, dislocations, burns, lacerations), physical therapy, benefits for ambulance, transportation, lodging, and wellness benefits for things like routine exams, annual physicals, and immunizations.
Hospital Confinement Indemnity - An illness or an injury that requires hospital confinement or treatment can place a great economic burden on you and your family. Once a medical problem strikes, getting healthy is the only thing that matters. But too often, you are left to battle lingering expenses.
While you may have good medical coverage for medical expenses, out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles, out-of-network costs, loss of wages, child care, and travel could be devastating. This plan provides cash benefits directly to you to help cover these expenses.
Highlights include cash payments for every day of confinement in a hospital or intensive care unit, for surgery in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center, ER visits, physician visits, medical diagnostic & imaging, invasive diagnostic exams, and ambulance.
Specified Health Event - A serious health event such as heart attack, stroke, bypass, coma, paralysis, major third-degree burns, end-stage renal failure, and major human organ transplant is not only a life-altering physical event, but also financially devastating. The plan provides cash benefits upon diagnosis along with ongoing benefits during your recovery. You spend the money where you see fit, at a time when you need it most: to pay bills, to replace lost paychecks, and to help offset any leftover medical expenses.
Highlights include up to a $5,000 benefit for the first occurrence and a $2,500 reoccurrence benefit. Cash benefits are also paid for hospital confinement, continuing care, and transportation, ambulance, and lodging for treatment.
Cancer - Cancer is the #2 cause of death in the United States after heart disease. Women have a 1-in-3 and men a 1-in-2 lifetime risk of developing cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment is the key to saving countless lives. Routine cancer screenings can detect about half of all known cancers and Aflac promotes these screenings by providing a cancer screening wellness benefit with this plan.
Should the unthinkable happen and you are diagnosed with cancer, this plan provides cash benefits up to $4,000 for the initial occurrence and additional cash benefits for NCI evaluation, hospital confinement, radiation, and experimental treatment, injected chemotherapy, surgical/anesthesia, skin cancer surgery, transportation to facilities, and bone morrow transplantation.
